Antique Pocket Watches

The collection of antique timepieces by Russian and foreign masters is one of the most interesting among the rich and diversified collections of decorative and applied arts in the museums of the Moscow Kremlin. The given site presents the masterpieces of this kind of art by first-class masters from Germany, France, England, Switzerland and other West-European countries. Looking at these timepieces one is able to follow the technical changes that took place in watch production in the course of the 16th-19th centuries as well as the changes in artistic styles reflected in the decoration of these objects. Of special interest are pocket watches. The art of watchmakers and that of jewellers have merged in perfect harmony in this craft.
